Nigeria vs South Africa: Dream Team crash out of AFCON U23 competition ▷ Nigeria news

- Nigeria vs South Africa clash ended in a goalless draw
- This means that the Dream Team have been ousted from the competition
- They will also not be participating at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan
- Imama Amapakabo's men finished third on the table with four points
Nigeria's U23 national team have been dumped out of the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations championship in Egypt.
The defending champions finished third on Group B table following their goalless draw against South Africa at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.
This also means that coach Imama Amapakabo and his armies will not be participating in next year's Olympic Games, having failed to reach the last four stage of the continental championship.
It would be recalled that coach Samson Siasia led the Nigerian squad to finish third at the 2016 edition of the competition - winning bronze, the only medal the country won at the events.
Meanwhile, despite fielding a strong squad which includes Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Nwakali, and Orji Okoronkwo, Imama's boys failed to soar after regulation period.

Victor Moses may return to Chelsea in January as Fenerbahce plot contract termination

Nigeria winger Victor Moses scored and also bagged an assist as Fenerbahce thrashed Gazisehir Gaziantep 5-0 in their Turkish Super Lig clash at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Monday evening.
Nigeria winger Victor Moses could return to Chelsea in January transfer window as Fenerbahce seem keen to end his disappointing loan spell.
Moses, 28, was shipped out by Chelsea on an 18-month loan deal in January, but he has played only four games this season, scoring once.
He has featured in the club’s last two matches, but has failed to make a real impression on boss Ersun Yanal.
The ex-Wigan winger scored and laid on an assist in his first game for the club – in their win over Gaziantep on matchday-1.
But since then a muscular injury and consequent lack of good form have seen him miss a huge chunk of the season.
In his last three games, Moses has failed to show the sort of form that saw him became a key cog of the Chelsea machine under Antonio Conte.
With the Blues under the leadership of the Italian, Moses reinvented himself as an attacking wing-back, with Marcos Alonso on the left.
According to a report on the online channel of British newspaper The Sun, reports in Turkey claim Moses is way off the pace and Fenerbahce are considering terminating his loan deal this winter.
The former Nigeria international is under contract at Chelsea until the end of the 2020-21 season.
Moses has been on the books of the Stamford Bridge side since 2012, but has been loaned to Liverpool, Stoke, West Ham and now Fenerbahce.

The dead man, nicknamed Caju, had been living in Zurich for the past two years and had been staying at the hotel where he was killed for around a week.

CHELSEA VS WATFORD : How Abraham, Pulisic Lift Chelsea Into Third

Abraham, Pulisic Lift Chelsea Into Third

Chelsea climbed to third place in the Premier League as Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic sealed a 2-1 victory at lowly Watford on Saturday.

Frank Lampard’s side bounced back from their midweek League Cup defeat against Manchester United to make it five successive league wins.

The Blues have won eight of their past nine matches in all competitions as Lampard continues to make a good impression in his first season in charge.
His decision to go with unproven youngsters like Abraham, who opened the scoring, has been a shrewd move, while Pulisic is justifying his hefty price tag after starting the season on the bench.
Gerard Deulofeu’s late VAR-awarded penalty came too late to stop Chelsea recording a seventh successive away win in all competitions.

They are just two points behind second-placed Manchester City despite being unable to sign players in the summer due to a transfer ban.
But with a trip to City looming and Champions League ties against Ajax and Valencia on the schedule, November will provide much sterner tests of Chelsea’s progress than this stroll in the autumn chill at Vicarage Road.

Watford could have lost by a much bigger margin and they remain bottom of the table, without a win in the league this season.
Chelsea made a blistering start that reaped an immediate reward when Abraham accelerated on Jorginho’s sublime pin-point pass and lifted a cool finish over Ben Foster.
It was Abraham’s 10th goal of his breakthrough campaign ending a five-game goal drought for the young England striker, who has scored seven goals in away games this season.
Just as significantly, Jorginho’s role in the goal indicated the Italy midfielder’s improved form in his second season with Chelsea.

Jorginho was disliked by Chelsea fans last season for his anonymous displays, but has already been involved in more Premier League goals (one goal and two assists) than in the whole of the previous campaign (two goals and no assists).

– Foster keeps it close –

Watford had managed just five Premier League goals this season, but they almost grabbed a first-half equaliser, with Deulofeu’s low shot flashing just wide.
That was a rare threat from the hosts and only Foster stopped Chelsea’s dominant display yielding more goals.

Foster kept out Abraham with a fine save, then from Willian’s corner, Pulisic looped a header that forced an even better stop by the Watford keeper.
Having won their previous six games on the road in all competitions, Chelsea were in confident mood and Mason Mount was inches away from their second goal when his long-range blast was pushed onto the bar by Foster’s fine save.

Chelsea had lost just one of their last 58 league games when leading at half-time, at Wolves in December 2018.
Foster was all that stood between the Blues and another away-day success as the 36-year-old denied Mount with another superb stop early in the second half.
Pulisic had scored a hat-trick in last weekend’s win at Burnley and the United States winger was back on the scoresheet to put the result beyond doubt in the 55th minute.
Abraham was the provider with a low cross and Pulisic evaded Watford’s dozing defence to tap in from close range.

Boos rang out when Daryl Janmaat was replaced by Kiko Femenia as Watford fans barraged boss Quique Sanchez Flores with chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing”.
But Watford were given a controversial 80th-minute lifeline when VAR ruled that Jorginho had caught Deulofeu with a trip that drew a theatrical fall from the winger.

Deulofeu dusted himself down to slot home the penalty and set up a tense finale.
Foster, up for a last second free-kick, almost gave Watford a dramatic point, but his header was brilliantly saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was mobbed by celebrating team-mates at the final whistle.

Manchester United stumble again at lowly Bournemouth

Manchester United stumble again at lowly Bournemouth

Lowly Bournemouth have compounded Manchester United’s Premier League woes, claiming a shocking 1-0 victory against the once dreaded former champions.
A 45th minute goal from Joshua King condemned United to another league defeat away at Bournemouth on Saturday, a result which cast aspersion on the 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup mid-week.
Adam Smith had played a terrific cross over to Joshua King, who found some space inside the box and puts the ball into the back of the net.
Bournemouth almost make it two goals on 76th when Harry Wilson received a low pass just outside the box and unleashed a fine strike towards the bottom right corner.
David De Gea pulled off a reflexive save to block his effort and diverted it to a corner.
On 83 minutes, Mason Greenwood wasted a clear opportunity to equalise for United as he fired a first-time shot from point-blank range, but it rattled the right post.
With 14 goals attempt, United could only managed three shots on target and six shots off goal while Bournemouth garnered six shots on target from 12 goals attempt.

Bournemouth vs Man Utd: Solskjaer confirms three players will miss EPL clash

Bournemouth vs Man Utd: Solskjaer confirms three players will miss EPL clash

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic will miss the Red Devils’ Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon due to injuries.
According to him, the trio will feature for Man United after the international break later this month.
“Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic are not ready for tomorrow,” Solskjaer was quoted by Man United’s official website as telling reporters on Friday.
“Probably after the international break. That is always a risk if you push them back too early, but if we have the two extra weeks after the international break, they should all be ready for then.”
Solskjaer also hoped Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford would be okay to play for Man United against Bournemouth after the trio picked up slight knocks during their 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
“It’s still early. Hopefully, we can get Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford back on the pitch tomorrow.
“They got some treatment yesterday, a little bit more treatment today, and a light session and hopefully they’re ready. I can’t tell you exactly now.”
